We have two rooms available in a community-oriented, bright, spacious home aptly called the Yellow House. Located in a quiet neighborhood in South Berkeley at the Oakland border, walk to Ashby BART and close to Berkeley Bowl. 2 blocks to the Tuesday Farmers Market. The house is set back from the street, nestled at the back of the property with a large yard. It has refinished hardwood floors throughout, a newly-renovated bathroom upstairs, and washer/dryer on the main floor. All of the rooms are bright and sunny with high ceilings and big windows.
Room 1: The North-East room is $1,400 and 164 square feet. Available for move-in starting in August. There are tall ceilings, hardwood floors, an ornate chandelier, big north-facing bay windows, one smaller east facing window, and one closet. Room 2: The North-West room is $1,300 and 133 square feet. Available for move-in starting Sept 1. (unfurnished) There are tall ceilings, hardwood floors, big north and west facing windows and one closet.
Upstairs: fully-remodeled shared full bathroom, small guest room, and large landing that has been used as a mini living room and art studio.
Downstairs: open floorplan includes redwood trim, kitchen with 2 refrigerators, washer/dryer, butcher block countertops, retro cabinets, and backyard access.

Beautiful yard with a fire pit, a giant redwood tree, a mature Meyer lemon tree and other easy going fruit trees. Theres a brick patio and lots of garden space and hang out space an urban oasis. We are located on Ohlone land and pay the Shuumi land tax.

South Berkeley, right at the Oakland border. 12 minute walk to Ashby BART and 5 min drive/short bike ride to (either) Berkeley Bowl. 2 blocks to the Tuesday South Berkeley Farmers Market. The neighborhood is friendly with many long-time residents.

D (she/her) (Eastern European ancestry and also Ashkenazi friendly, cis female, white-identified, open minded). Im a political activist and a social extrovert. I work for an environmental non-profit focused on agriculture and getting toxins out of our food system. I love spending time in nature, connecting with my friends, climbing, biking and creative fun.

R (she/her) (Filipina friendly) Im a leftist Buddhist vegan. I work as an aide in elementary school special ed classes and some evenings I work the front desk at a yoga studio. I like long walks, knitting and crocheting, and sharing a delicious meal with friends.

We have a home where we create a space that is conducive to aligning our actions with our values and is nourishing and comfortable. Ideal housemates will be good communicators, respectful, accountable, clean, and contribute to chores and livability of public spaces. We care about political change, initiate occasional community gatherings or meals together, and like to enjoy life. Looking for folks interested in building community for the longer-term, but open to shorter intervals and subletters for the right fit.
